Spring Cleaning While In Self-Isolation
During this time of self-isolation, in an effort to help flatten the curve of COVID-19, we’d like to recommend a few cleaning tasks you can do around the house to help stay productive during this time of uncertainty. Plus there is no better time than Spring when you can finally open your windows and let all the fresh air in.
Task 1: Entryway
If you haven’t already, now is the time. Wipe down your front door and door handle, shake out your door mats, wipe down any light fixtures, and scrub those railings. Make sure all shoes are left at the front door.
Task 2: Living Room
A large amount of time is usually spent in this room. Whether it’s sitting on the couch, watching TV or eating a quick snack, the living room is a high traffic zone. Make sure you wipe down all remote controls, windows and mirrors, vacuum any rugs, and wash all pillow covers and blankets.
Task 3: Kitchen
Split the chores for this space amongst the family. Start by organizing the pantry, discarding any expired items. Then move on to wipe down the kitchen cabinets and deep clean the oven (inside and out). Clean the fridge exterior, including the space behind it. Lastly, clean the utensil drawer.
Task 4: Dining Room
Not all of us have a dining room, but if you do wipe down the table top, backs of the chairs and chair seat. Wash any chair cushions and placemats. Make sure to dust any decorative pieces.
Task 5: Bathroom
Now onto the least favourite room to clean, but one of the most important. Clean and disinfect the bathtub, shower head, toilet and pipes. Make sure to wash the bath mats and shower curtains. Thoroughly disinfect any door knobs, light switches, countertops, mirrors and windows.
Task 6: Bedroom
Sleep in peace by giving this room some extra love. Start by washing all bedding and pillowcases. Vacuum under the bed, the mattress, any rugs, lamp shades and other upholstery. Wipe down the door handles and light switches. Wipe down all bedside tables.
Task 7: Backyard
Once the snow has all melted you can start by rinsing the entire patio, washing all outdoor cushions and wiping down any furniture from storage.
Not only is cleaning and decluttering important to keep your home clean and safe, but studies also suggest that it can be good for mental health, which is needed in these uncertain times.
From all of us at Winmar, stay safe and keep washing your hands.
